Awesomely Delicious Maple Syrup Walnut Cake
For this one, you will be needing 2.5 cups of all purpose flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 2 tsp. baking soda, 0.5 tsp of salt and cinnamon, 0.5 cup of softened butter, 0.5 cup of granulated sugar, 2 eggs, 1.5 cups of pure maple syrup, 2 tsp. vanilla extract, 0.5 cup of water, a cup of finely chopped walnuts and halved walnuts.
The first thing you should do is make the batter. Heat the oven to 350 °F. Coat 2 nine inch cake pans with the butter. Next, dust it with flour and remove the excess. Set this aside. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside. In a mixer on high speed, put the butter and sugar and allow mixing for a minute. Add the eggs. Put the vanilla and 1 cup maple syrup. Set the mixer to low and add the flour mixture, water and lastly the dry ingredients. Carefully put the walnuts. Next, bake the cake for 30 mins and allow it to cool. To make the cake garnishes, heat the remaining maple syrup in a pan until a drop of the syrup hardens when put in cold water. Pour the heated maple syrup on chopped walnuts.
To frost the cake, you will need a serrated knife so that you can level the mounded cake layer sides. Next, line the cake plate with waxed paper or parchment paper and put a cake layer on its top. Put a cup of maple sugar frosting on the top and spread it evenly. Put the second layer on the first one and cover the cake with icing. Put decorations of candied walnuts as well as the hard maple sugar. Remove the parchment paper and serve the cake. You can store the cake by up to four days in room temperature.
