A slim piece of wood attached to the saxophone mouth, the reed forces the player’s air into the instrument. The choice of reed can greatly affect the sax’s tones and notes.

Reeds are difficult to care for; in fact, it is not unusual that, over time, they become cracked or split. Because of this, saxophonists usually buy multiple reeds, or reeds by the box, so that they have additional reeds when necessary. Another reason for buying boxes of reeds is that not all reeds in the same box are of the same quality. The thickness of the reed varies and can affect the final product.

There are several saxophone types but the most common are alto, bass, tenor, soprano, and, finally, the baritone. The alto is most common and recommended for beginners because of its medium size and shape. It is not unusual to see altos used in both marching and jazz bands. The tenor is the second most commonly used sax and is often used for jazz.

The smallest of the saxes is actually, the sopranino – which is a baby soprano sax. Resembling the clarinet, the soprano is the most difficult to play. The bass saxophone is large and, because of its size, it is seldom used in a marching band. The bass’ size makes it too heavy to play for an extenuated period.

While one of the more unusual saxophones, the contrabass is the largest; standing at seven feet tall. Not only is the contrabass the largest sax; it throws the lowest pitch.

One of the easiest instruments to learn, the saxophone offers repertoires ranging from marching bands, to jazz to classical. So when you next hear sax music, you can enjoy your knowledge of the instrument being played. Check out Jupiter Baritone saxophone or Martin Tenor saxophone.

Individuality is important in today’s world. We all want to feel special and unique. One way to be different is to accessorize your wardrobe. You can use anything from strangely colored scarves to odd beads. Accessorizing brings out your ‘you factor’ because even if you’re wearing the exact same outfit as someone else, it’s unlikely that you’ll have identical accessories. In terms of jewelery, you can get a special touch by collecting beads and making your own bracelets and pendants. Though you will need good forms of bead storage to keep this task manageable.

There are many different ways to keep your beads. You first have to sort them by size, shape, color, or the material they’re made of. Beads can be made from seeds, stone, glass, metal, or clay work. Beads of the same kind should be stored together for easy access and preservation. Sometimes beads are sold individually, but other times they are sold on strings or hanks. For storage purposes, it’s easier to separate the beads and store them as separate pieces.

Plastic tubes are a good way to store seed beads, because they are unlikely to break when they rub against each other. Semi precious stone beads can be stored in plastic tubes as well, because they’re not susceptible to chipping. Plastic tubes are a bad idea for large glass beads, because the beads are fragile, but small glass beads can be stored in this way. Their small size gives them a larger surface area to volume ratio which makes them more stable and less likely to break.

Plastic tubes can be bought in bead stores, but you can substitute them with the cardboard tubes used for M & Ms, tube candy bars, or Smarties. However, the pop lids will have to be reinforced with tape to make sure the beads don’t slip out.

If your beads are on strands or hanks, they are best kept in plastic bags. You can get the kind that have snap sealing mechanisms. This type of plastic bag is used to store toys, cookies, junk food, and store-bought jewelery, so there should be quite a few lying around your house already. Single beads don’t sit well in plastic bags though, because they can tear the bag and fall out one by one.

Finally flip top storage boxes are good for tiny beads that are not fragile, like seed and plastic beads. You can make DIY flip top boxes from used Tic Tac or mint boxes, or from milk cartons for larger beads. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get nifty, effective bead storage boxes.

Most people know of Swarovski crystal for the beautiful crsytal ornaments that they produce and nowadays they are very well known for the beads that are used for jewellry. The reflective qualities of the glass makes for stunning pieces of jewellry and ornaments. I have some of the early Swarovski crystal Christmas ornaments, they made a range of crsytal shapes (called Crystal memories that later became Christmas Memories) including pines cones, chapels, stars and bells, these were are designed to hang on the tree. Currently Swarovski produce a large range of Christmas ornaments and every year introduce a new Christmas Star, this tradition started in 1991 and in 2003 they introduced a smaller Christmas star as a companion piece. Crystal ornaments add a lovely effect to any Christmas tree and especially beautiful when used with Christmas lights, then you can have a dazzling Christmas tree.

Camping tables are not the most obvious of items to have on a camping trip, but they can definitely come in very handy. There are some camping tables that are great for helping make supper on, and some that are just the right size for eating off of. No matter what you plan on doing on your camping trip, a camping table is bound to be useful.

When you’re choosing a camping table, it’s important to remember to buy one from a reputable manufacturer. There’s nothing worse than getting a new table and having it break after just a few uses. Imagine if you put your just-made hot dinner on your table and it collapsed! That would not make for a fun camping trip, so make sure to buy quality products.

Making your own homemade cards is easy. Thousands of people are making their own cards for birthdays, celebrations and holidays and so can you.

Making greeting cards is an interesting pastime to enjoy with your relatives and friends. Actually, card making is becoming more and more popular and it is now easier than ever to make and send handmade greeting cards.

One of the many ways to make your own greetings cards is with a Cricut machine. Greetings cards made this way look professional and you can also simply make several of the same design if you want to for invitations.

Have you ever received a homemade card and thought to yourself, “how gorgeous! I wish I knew how to make my own greetings cards.” Well, now you can! Imagine how proud you will feel when your family receive your handmade cards.

Taking up making cards as a hobby does not have to be expensive since you will have most of the necessary supplies for making greeting cards in your home. For a simple handmade card, all you need is card, scissors, glue and some colored pencils or pens.

Although not expensive, making your own greeting cards can be very rewarding.

The biggest expenses in beekeeping as a hobby come from buying the initial equipment. You will need to find beekeeper suits, smokers, and bee hives for sale. Knowing where to find this specialized equipment can be challenging, but thankfully it is easier than it used to be, because now you can order everything you need online.

When you are starting with beekeeping and looking to purchase your initial set of supplies the first thing you should get is a book or course on beekeeping. This will keep you on track because then you will know exactly what you need to purchase and when you need to get it.

From there you should make a list. This will keep you from getting distracted. Once you have everything on your list and have some experience under your belt, you can go back and get other things that you think you will need. Good luck and have fun beekeeping!

Let’s talk about cheap ice cream makers. They are a dime a dozen these days. In fact, it seems like a new company is entering this space every few minutes. Do you know what that tells me? There is a lot of competition out there to make the best ice cream makers from many divergent sources. This can only be a good thing as it will increase the quality and decrease the price. Many people think that the Cuisinart ICE-20 is the superior product on the market today. Certainly, at its price range it may very well be that. A lot of people like the rolling balls because they can buy these for their kids, who absolutely love them. It really all comes down to your own personal taste, so to speak.

If your kids have been bugging you for a remote control car this Christmas, you may have been tempted to get a high powered one, but there are a few reasons why you should think twice about doing this. For starters, nitro powered RC cars have a whole lot of oomph. If your child has never had any experience with remote control cars before, then they are going to find it virtually impossible to control one of these machines. A nitro remote controlled car can reach speeds higher than that of a lot of “real” cars, and at such high velocity, it becomes impossible to handle unless you have had a lot of experience. Chances are, this car will end up wrapped around a tree.

Another reason that parent’s may be hesitant in getting their child such a gift is because it teaches them to be rev heads. There are so many deaths on our roads every year, that this is obviously a concern. That’s where it’s up to us, as parents to properly educate our children about the difference between toys and real life.

Most people don’t know this but a lot of the martial arts weapons you will see used and trained today came from the ancient Japanese. Quite often the most famous weapons like the Nunchuck came from a place called Okinawa Japan and they were originally used as farming implements. During the time of Ancient Japan the dynasty deemed farmers unfit to wield their own weapons because they were afraid of an organized revolt. Therefore all weapons were banned.

But what were the people going to till the soil with and harvest the wheat with? The tools for harvesting became the perfect weapons in a pinch. You were outside using them all day anyway so why not just secretly start developing a martial art around them. These martial artists developed countless styles and were crafty enough to do it all under the royal noses. Try doing something like that today, good luck.

Backyard beekeeping is a low maintanence hobby that yeilds great rewards in fresh honey and just getting outside. If you like honey but have never had it fresh, it is well worth it. (Yummy!). All you need to get started is to find some bee hives for sale, get some protective gear, some bees, and a beekeeping manual. All together your layout should be just about $200.

Many people who begin backyard beekeeping are worried about stings, and they do happen, but unless you are allergic they are not something to worry about excessively. Beekeeping is fun and rewarding (and important). Give it a try.
