For a lot of people the term dog crates makes them picture cages with poor unfortunate dogs locked inside. However a crate is really just another word for a dog kennel. The main difference is that it tends to encompass both the traditional style kennel and kennels which are also more like runs. Here we shall look at the main advantages of using a crate for your dog.

Many people comment on the fact that their dog always seems to find a small space to squeeze himself into, often a covered place like a table, when he wants to go to sleep. This is because a space like this helps him to feel safe when he is sleeping as he knows that it will be more difficult for something bad to happen to him if he is surrounded on all sides and above too. One way to provide your pet with a more appropriate place to sleep is to buy him a crate. Most people choose plastic dog crates if they want an indoor dog home as they are easy to clean and can be moved out of the way if necessary without causing back strain.

If you want an outdoor dog home then a metal dog crate is ideal as it will keep your pet confined in a safe space while still allowing him to play and run around. You can buy lightweight chain link crates which can be moved and are very easy to construct yourself or a heavier, more permanent, modular dog crate.

People who spend a lot of time on the road with their dog often like to use collapsible dog crates as they can be folded down so that they take up very little space when not in use. They are made from a light aluminum frame covered in nylon, which can be removed and washed as necessary.

Winston, my English bulldog, has this thing about being as close to me as possible at all times. Now, I adore this trait about him because you can really feel the love. Although there are times when I feel like screaming.

Those times are when he absolutely insists on getting under my desk and then promptly throwing himself down and falling asleep on my foot. Yes, he throws himself. It’s like he lifts all his legs at once and lets himself plop down. The thing is my desk is tiny… I barely have room, let alone his royal highness. It was fine four or five months ago when he could fit in my lap but now I end up 3 feet away from the desk. So I definitely need a bigger desk. Never mind the foot. I can always replace that.

Another great moment is coming close to breaking a bone in the kitchen every day. As soon as Winston sees I am doing something in the kitchen he saunters in and “delicately” lays down…. In the middle of the kitchen! So as to make sure that if I want to get from the sink to the stove, from the stove to the fridge or anywhere else for that matter, I have to climb over him. Since he takes up so little room, that’s really easy… not. So, I need a bigger kitchen.

Conclusion, I need a bigger house. To be truthful though I would rather buy a bigger house than give up on English bulldogs.

If you do then you know what amazing pets they truly can make. Cats have a style all their own and can have very prissy personalities. Did you know that in ancient Egypt cats were thought to be able to communicate with the gods.

Ancient Egyptian priests would study cats for hours on end. Every sound the cat made from an slight purr to a loud meow was documented. Every movement, gesture and step the cats made were used to make predictions. Cats were thought to be able to pass between our world and the world of the gods.

It is truly amazing how an awesome animal can go from the spokesman for gods to a the lap cat who’s ears you scratch and back you pet. So show some respect to your cute kitten, your feline friend, you never know who they’ll be talking to.

Long haired dogs require a tone of grooming, but I think owning one is well worth the effort. Keeping their locks lovely is easy is long as you keep on top of it daily. Some extremely long haired dogs like Shih Tzu, will actually make you take your carpet out of your house. It rips the hair and is an ideal breeding ground for parasites. And that is another key component to keeping your dog’s coat in awesome shape, flea control. Spray your yard at least twice a year, and if you do have carpet shampoo it monthly. I like to sprinkle 20 mule team borax in my carpet and let it sit over night, vacuuming it up the next morning. Always comb your long haired dog before you bathe it, or the tangles will be awful when the dog dries. All these tips will really help those of you with bad dog allergies. The horse product Show Sheen is pretty nice to spray in their hair too.
