Most pet owners find themselves having to learn about flea bombs and flea and tick shampoo. Flea and tick shampoo usually has to be used frequently since it only kills the parasites on the pet or in some case only stuns them and an owner might manage to rinse them down the drain. Most pets are not very happy about being regularly doused in water and what they probably know is poison. Dogs are known to start rolling in the dirt right after their bath like somebody on fire doing the stop drop and roll. Cats would rather just take your blood.

Flea and tick shampoos are not usually the best long-term solution, especially if there are many fleas. A very small part of the infestation is actually on the pet. For every flea or tick on your pet, there are thousands more miniature vampires and their larvae in the carpet and under the house. Eggs are not laid on the pet, nor do they hatch on the pet. Therefore, the best way to commit a mass killing is with flea bombs that get eggs and larvae and do not involve torturing the pet. Flea bombs are effective and easy to operate. You push the button on top of the can to the start the spray and run while holding your breath. You can push the button and throw it under your house, or set one off in your house and quickly get out and close the door behind you.

Flea bombs are not without their drawbacks. You cannot use them in a room where you keep food unless you first take out all the food. Small rodent type pets and birds can be harmed by the bomb. After all, you are filling your home with poison. If you can seal off the rooms being bombed, you might use the rest of the house, but in some cases you, your pets, and any uncovered food would need to be out of the house for most of the day. If the cat or dog still has fleas when they come back, then the invasion will begin again.

Flea bombs and flea and tick shampoo are not something anybody wants to use frequently. Cap star is a pill and very effective, but very expensive. Depending on the size of the pet, you could spend three dollars a day until fleas are wiped out in your area. Generic spot on treatments do not usually work as well as the more expensive name brand products, but could be better than nothing. Fighting fleas and ticks can involve an all out war, and war is never cheap.

If you are looking into choosing a Rottweiler puppy, we have some tips that will help you get started on a good foot with your new companion. Read on for more information on raising a Rottweiler puppy.

Rottweiler puppies are just like any other puppies in that some of them will be more dominant and some will be more submissive. Depending on what type of adult dog you are hoping to have, you can choose a puppy based on its current temperament to give you a better chance of ending up with the type of dog you want. For instance, a dominant puppy will turn into a more dominant adult, and will be a bit more bull headed and perhaps a bit more difficult to train, but it will also enjoy running and playing more than a more laid back dog. If you want a dog that is rough and tumble, and that will be a running partner who is out for adventure, maybe a more dominant pup would be for you. If you live in a small apartment and you are hoping for a more laid back dog who is content to go for sedate walks with occasional bouts of light play, the more submissive puppy might be a good choice.

Whichever pup you choose, the breeder is likely to be able to give you feedback on whether they think it will be a good fit. After all, they’ve had 8 weeks or so to interact with the litter and watch them as they developed their personalities. They will have a good instinct about the right choice for you, especially if they have raised several litters before. They will be able to advise you about raising a Rottweiler puppy which includes Rottweiler training and other types of issues that you will need to address, such as potty training a puppy.

Potty training a puppy requires a lot of patience and work but if done correctly, puppies will learn to use the toilet outside quickly and regularly. Puppies do not come programmed on where the appropriate place to potty is so it is the full responsibility of the puppy’s owner to teach his or her puppy where to eliminate and where not to. The following tips should help you become a pro at puppy toilet training:

It is imperative that you closely watch a young puppy at all times while he is walking through your house. If you catch your puppy sniffing the ground or posturing to potty, you must immediately take your pup outside and allow him to relieve himself there. Once your puppy relieves himself, immediately praise your pup and give him a small food treat where he went potty. Continue to do this to reinforce in your pup’s mind where the acceptable place to eliminate is at.

Never scold a puppy for eliminating in the house. The outdated method of puppy toilet training was to drag the dog over to the mess and rub the pup’s face in their own waste. This is a completely ineffective and inhumane dog potty training method and only teaches the pup that going to the bathroom results in pain and fear of his owner.

Dogs are creatures of habit and have short attention spans so it is essential to pick a verbal command and use it consistently and immediately while dog potty training. Never discipline your puppy over a mess she made hours or days ago; she will have no idea why she is getting yelled at or hurt.

Crate training puppies is an excellent way to not only keep puppies and household belongings safe while you are away, but it is a great puppy toilet training aid. Puppies do not want to eliminate where they sleep, so choose a crate that is large enough for the puppy to stand up, turn around, and lie down naturally in, yet not so large that there is extra room for the pup to eliminate on one end and sleep on the other. Puppies should not be left in a crate for more than four to six hours at a time though the time can be increased as the pup matures. Over time the pup will learn how to hold his or her urine and bowels while in the crate. Never use the crate as discipline, for you want your pup to love being in it, not fear it.

Potty training a puppy is a hassle but realize that it is part of owning a puppy. Just like human babies need constant tending to, so do puppies. If you do not have the time and patience to potty train a puppy, do not get one.

Taking care of your pet should be a priority in life, so in order to get them the medical attention they need and deserve one should invest in pet insurance. Getting pet insurance for your pet is very important, as the medical expenses can be very high. When you are looking for pet insurance the best thing to do is look for the one with the right pet insurance review. This article will show you what to look for in pet insurance reviews in order to choose the best company.

Customer Satisfaction

When you read a pet insurance review, you want to make sure that the pet owner was happy with the service that was provided. Pet insurance works a lot like health insurance for humans, you must choose a company that is on your side and will cover your pets needs when necessary. Being able to read what other people have to say about their specific experience with the insurance will help you decide which company is best for you and your pet.

Weigh the Pros and Cons

One of the most important things to do when choosing the best company for your pet is to weigh the pros and cons. The good thing about reviews is that people are allowed to voice their opinion, whether they had a good or bad experience. Knowing both the good and bad things about a specific company will help you choose which the best is for you.

The Final Decision

The final decision when it comes to pet insurance is up to you. Although the personal reviews will help you make that decision, you are the one that will have to live with it. Make sure you look at all aspects of the pet insurance companies out there when comparing them. Looking at the price, policies, and customer reviews will surely help you come up with the final decision of which company you can trust.

Many pet owners are seeking to combine function, style, and positive health benefits in the pet accessories they purchase. The best way to do all of that is to purchase quality products made from stainless steel. While most pet fountains on the market are made from some type of plastic, there are a few made from materials such as ceramic and stainless, and it is those fountains that are the best sellers.

When it comes to stainless, there is currently only one choice available, and that is the Stainless Steel Pet Drinking Fountain, Raindrop Design, which is made by Pioneer Pet Products. But there is soon to be more competition in this market as the largest company that makes fountains for your pets is about to unveil the Drinkwell 360 Stainless steel pet fountain.

The fountain made by pioneer is one of the most stylish of all pet fountains on the market. Many people do not realize at first that this is a pet accessory. Instead their first reaction is to think is some kind of home decor. Of course that all changes when they see your pet drink from it! This is a smaller fountain, suitable for small or medium size dogs or cats. The design features the very popular raindrop design. The water comes out the top in a small bubbling water fountain type of spurt, then runs down a curving ramp until it empties into the main bowl at the bottom. The water is then recirculated to repeat the trip again. This gives your pet multiple types of water to drink from, from the barely moving water in the main bowl to the water rapidly running down the ramp.

The Drinkwell stainless fountain is a new version of the Drinkwell 360 fountain. As the name implies, this fountain is round. It is also quite a bit larger than other fountains and this allows pets to approach and drink from any side of the fountain. Perfect for multiple dog or cat homes. This fountain will be released just in time for the holidays, so put it on your gift giving list!

House gecko, Hemidactylus frenatus, is one of the most common type of geckos. They are small and also sometimes have a transparent color skin. Their color changes depending upon their mood. Like most lizards, house geckos have specialized scales in their toes which enable them to climb vertically or even upside down on the ceiling. Their average size is 4-5 inches with the life span of 5 years or more if properly cared for.

When you have your very own house gecko, it is your responsibility to make sure your pet’s basic needs are provided. First thing will be the housing. You must provide an enclosure which is appropriate for the size of your pet. A 10 gallon tank will be best for one or two house geckos. You may put some functional design inside the enclosure like branches for your pet to climb on and an elevated area off of the floor for hiding. As for the substrate, you may use pelleted or mulch-type. However, geckos may tend to eat their substrate, if they do so, change it to something they wont eat like paper. Temperature gradient must be 90F on the warm side while 70F on the cool side. Use incandescent light as a primary heat source and this must be turned on 10-12 hours daily. They will not drink all their water from a bowl so allow proper misting inside the enclosure.

House geckos are nocturnal species and most active during the day. They are also fast moving creature which make them hard to handle. Their tails can be easily broken off so proper handling when feeding is required. With regards to the maintenance of their housing, ensure that you clean their tank at least once a week. Wash your hands also before and after holding your pet to avoid salmonella and other types of infectious disease. When you observe your pet to be very active and alert with clear eyes, healthy skin and eating regularly then your pet is in good health. However, you must be very aware also for any signs of illness like runny stools and loss of appetite. If you notice any of these conditions you should contact a veterinarian that specializes in reptile care as soon as possible.

For a lot of people the term dog crates makes them picture cages with poor unfortunate dogs locked inside. However a crate is really just another word for a dog kennel. The main difference is that it tends to encompass both the traditional style kennel and kennels which are also more like runs. Here we shall look at the main advantages of using a crate for your dog.

Many people comment on the fact that their dog always seems to find a small space to squeeze himself into, often a covered place like a table, when he wants to go to sleep. This is because a space like this helps him to feel safe when he is sleeping as he knows that it will be more difficult for something bad to happen to him if he is surrounded on all sides and above too. One way to provide your pet with a more appropriate place to sleep is to buy him a crate. Most people choose plastic dog crates if they want an indoor dog home as they are easy to clean and can be moved out of the way if necessary without causing back strain.

If you want an outdoor dog home then a metal dog crate is ideal as it will keep your pet confined in a safe space while still allowing him to play and run around. You can buy lightweight chain link crates which can be moved and are very easy to construct yourself or a heavier, more permanent, modular dog crate.

People who spend a lot of time on the road with their dog often like to use collapsible dog crates as they can be folded down so that they take up very little space when not in use. They are made from a light aluminum frame covered in nylon, which can be removed and washed as necessary.

Winston, my English bulldog, has this thing about being as close to me as possible at all times. Now, I adore this trait about him because you can really feel the love. Although there are times when I feel like screaming.

Those times are when he absolutely insists on getting under my desk and then promptly throwing himself down and falling asleep on my foot. Yes, he throws himself. It’s like he lifts all his legs at once and lets himself plop down. The thing is my desk is tiny… I barely have room, let alone his royal highness. It was fine four or five months ago when he could fit in my lap but now I end up 3 feet away from the desk. So I definitely need a bigger desk. Never mind the foot. I can always replace that.

Another great moment is coming close to breaking a bone in the kitchen every day. As soon as Winston sees I am doing something in the kitchen he saunters in and “delicately” lays down…. In the middle of the kitchen! So as to make sure that if I want to get from the sink to the stove, from the stove to the fridge or anywhere else for that matter, I have to climb over him. Since he takes up so little room, that’s really easy… not. So, I need a bigger kitchen.

Conclusion, I need a bigger house. To be truthful though I would rather buy a bigger house than give up on English bulldogs.

If you do then you know what amazing pets they truly can make. Cats have a style all their own and can have very prissy personalities. Did you know that in ancient Egypt cats were thought to be able to communicate with the gods.

Ancient Egyptian priests would study cats for hours on end. Every sound the cat made from an slight purr to a loud meow was documented. Every movement, gesture and step the cats made were used to make predictions. Cats were thought to be able to pass between our world and the world of the gods.

It is truly amazing how an awesome animal can go from the spokesman for gods to a the lap cat who’s ears you scratch and back you pet. So show some respect to your cute kitten, your feline friend, you never know who they’ll be talking to.

Long haired dogs require a tone of grooming, but I think owning one is well worth the effort. Keeping their locks lovely is easy is long as you keep on top of it daily. Some extremely long haired dogs like Shih Tzu, will actually make you take your carpet out of your house. It rips the hair and is an ideal breeding ground for parasites. And that is another key component to keeping your dog’s coat in awesome shape, flea control. Spray your yard at least twice a year, and if you do have carpet shampoo it monthly. I like to sprinkle 20 mule team borax in my carpet and let it sit over night, vacuuming it up the next morning. Always comb your long haired dog before you bathe it, or the tangles will be awful when the dog dries. All these tips will really help those of you with bad dog allergies. The horse product Show Sheen is pretty nice to spray in their hair too.
