If you are thinking of purchasing a chinchilla cage, then you should read this article. There are many places you can purchase a cage for a chinchilla, or you may rather build your own cage and this article will tell you the best way to go about either buying or purchasing a cage for your pet.

Firstly, you could search for a cage for a chinchilla online. Simply enter ‘cage for chinchilla‘ into one of the search engines and you will get a lot of results.

A chinchilla is a small, rodent type animal, which is a native of South America. It is usually about the size of a rabbit and is termed a ‘crepuscular rodent’, which means it is most active at dusk and in the dawn hours.

Depending on how much you wish to spend you may prefer to purchase a large chinchilla cage or maybe a smaller cage. Whichever you prefer there are some things that you should note about chinchilla cages in general. A chinchilla cage can be made with wire, but do not use plastic. Chinchillas chew a lot and will damage a plastic cage and might injure themselves.

Put stimulating objects and toys in your chinchilla cage for the interest and amusement of your chinchilla. If you are considering building your own chinchilla cage, you can get chinchilla cage plans and construct a good cage. A homemade chinchilla cage or a custom chinchilla cage has the benefit of you having control over how large you want it and what quality finish you desire.

Do remember if you are constructing your own chinchilla cage, to have proper air circulation in the cage, as this is important to chinchillas. Also clean the cage regularly and you will have a very happy chinchilla in his or her new home.

When it comes to giving blood, and it’s a case of cats vs dogs, dogs have the edge because a scheme set up in the UK in 2005 means that vets can call upon the resources of a doggie blood bank, rather like that which has been available for human patients for some time.

In England and Wales The National Blood service collects, tests, processes, stores and issues 2.1 million blood donations a year. Unlike the National Health Service, (NHS) of which it is an integral part, the NBS depends entirely on voluntary donations. It is in the forefront of saving lives.

First blood bank for dogs

The UK’s first Pet BloodBank UK was set up to provide life-saving canine blood to veterinary practices around the UK. It is the first service of its kind to collect, process, store and supply pet blood products.

Although a feline blood donation scheme is not yet functioning, the blood bank has just started a research project into collecting feline blood. So it shouldn’t be too long before that, too, is underway.

Holidays

When we’re talking about holidays, it’s cats that score.

Holidaying dog owner who can’t or don’t want to take their pet with them, have to make what can sometimes be complicated arrangements for the animal’s care duing their absence.

Dogs always need someone to look after them.

Whether that person comes and stays in the family home, or the dog goes to theirs – or to kennels – is a personal choice.

It is not fair to leave a dog stuck at home all day, with someone simply looking in every few hours to check on him, walk him possibly and give him his dinner.

While cats are quite happy with that sort of arrangement, dogs are most certainly not. Cats are renowned for their independence. If there is a cat flap in the door, they can go out for prowl, to answer the call of nature, or to happily yowl the hours away on a hot tin roof.

Cats who stay at home will be perfectly content to see a neighbouring human coming in to feed them and to replenish the supply of fresh water. If the viisitor is prepared to join them in the odd game of ball, that’s even better.

Pet-sitting services

Pet-sitting services are becoming very popular. The people who run them are invariably animal-lovers themselves. One organisation we encountered will arrange to collect the dog, take it to their new centre – described as ‘a secure place to stay when the family are on holiday’ – introduce him to other dogs, walk him regularly, play with him and provide an all-round pet sitting service in comfort and style.

Cats have some rather smart places to go to as well. It’s just a case of surfing the web and finding something suitable.

Make sure that your dog’s diet isn’t contributing or causing his skin allergies. Using a high quality dog food that has no byproducts listed in the ingredients can help you ensure that your pup’s immune system is in the best working order that it can be. Lower end dog foods tend to cause a dogs skin allergy to get worse by causing inflammation of the immune system. This leads to an overproduction of histamine which results in the itching and scratching.

Drop a little bit of fish oil into his dog food. Dosing is a little tricky to figure out, since many dogs vary in their sensitivity to the addition of fish oil. For dogs ranging in the medium size, go for about ¼ of a teaspoon to start with. Add or subtract by droplets depending on weight, signs of improvement, or loose bowels.

While over the counter antihistamines can be helpful in the treatment of dog skin allergies, it is always best to check with your veterinarian before administering. Dosing is often much different for dogs and people due to body weight and the way the body metabolizes certain elements. Some dogs can actually have an acute allergic reaction to antihistamines. Your vet will be able to guide you in the appropriateness of this choice. Most allergy medications that are purchased over the counter either cause sleepiness.

So what about the different types of dogs, and what do you mean, they were bred for specific tasks? Well you see, a long time ago, people used dogs as tools and workers. The breeders of the animals would pick the dog that did its duties the best, and continued his bloodline. This was done for so long, that a “super dog” in essence was bred. A dog that could accomplish the task at hand better than any other breeds. A perfect example of this are the terrier line of dogs. These little digs have a voracious spirit and are ready to love their owner unconditionally. The terrier line typically make good kid friendly dogs because of their attitude towards life in general. They are ready to go all the time!

I not only use this on my dogs but also my horses to keep their coat shiny and healthy as well. It gives them a sleek and beautiful look coveted by all of us who show our animals in the ring, no matter breed or species, and the smell isn’t too bad. The animals all love how it feels and I have yet to hear one of my dogs complain about smelling like an order of fish and chips. I think in the dog world, fish and chips are a pooch’s perfume. If your canine has a dog skin allergy a vinegar rinse is an even better idea, it soothes the skin and removes soap residues, leaving fur cleaner than any rinse with water ever could be expected to.

Many people have taken to giving baths to their cats and kittens to not only help their pets keep as clean as possible, but also to help reduce the effects of cat allergies. The reason for this is that most of the particles that cause allergies are located in the cat’s saliva, which is left in the fur as a result of grooming.

There are a few things that you will going to need to be aware of if you are going to start bathing your kitten. The first is that you either clip the claws beforehand to avoid injury to yourself. The second is that you avoid getting the head, eyes, and ears wet to avoid harming the kitten. The third is to dry the kitten as quickly as possible, to keep the kitten bath from making your pet sick.

Besides the unique, long shape of the Dachshund, the breed can be characterized by the type of fur it has. The three types of fur which Dachshunds have are the short-haired, long-haired and wire-haired.

The short and long haired Dachshunds are more common than the wire-haired. The short haired variety has hair that is typically 1/4 inch long and takes very little grooming.

As you guessed, the long-haired Dachshund has long wavy hair. It’s hair can reach several inches in length and requires daily grooming or it can tangle and cause knots.

The wire-haired Doxie looks like it has coarse rough hair but it’s quite soft despite its appearance. Sometimes their face reminds me of a Schnauzer/Dachshund mix. This type of dog requires daily grooming to keep that neat look.
