Dust Must Be Controlled On the Work Site
There are a number of different ways that dust suppression is carried out in locations that are prone to considerable fine dust presence. This may include concrete manufacturers and the mining industry. The obvious way to control dust is to use water, but there are ways in which the water should be used to produce the most optimal results.
Some of the more common dust control methods on the work site include wetting water sprays, a sprayed mixture of water and surfactants, the use of encrusting agents and misting systems. Each of these systems provides solutions in certain situations but they may have certain drawbacks too.
The use of a water spray stops the creation of dust over the short term but this method requires a large amount of water and would also require continuous re-application. The fact that the area becomes completely wet can cause problems with the operation of equipment over the longer term.
The use of water and surfactants such as foam can be effective and require less water to be effective but some surfactant properties can cause equipment damage.
Encrusting agents also requires less water to be effective. These agents also have a longer residual effect but the application of these systems is more costly to install because the equipment required for operation is more expensive.
The use of misting nozzles to create a very fine mist or fog uses the least amount of water and can prove to be extremely effective. However a fog system requires the conditions at the site to be absolutely perfect to be effective.
Once the method of how the dust suppression is going to be achieved the next step will be deciding on the way in which the system is going to be employed. The positioning of the delivery system could mean the difference between the system working effectively or being a big failure.
There are many important factors that go into dust suppression on the work site. Employing the right one can result in large revenue savings over the long term.
