How to Find Dropped Contacts
You are fixing your contact lens it in front of the mirror and suddenly it falls out. You quickly look down to search for it but you can’t seem to find it. You also need to carefully scan your clothing to see if the lens fell into a sleeve or a pant cuff. If someone is helping you find your contacts, ask them to remove their shoes. More importantly have them check the floor before taking each step into the around to avoid stepping on the lens. You can also turn off the lights and use a flashlight to search the vicinity. Get down until you’re at eye level with the floor and watch for any glimmer from the lens.
Once you’ve found your dropped contact lens, be very careful when picking it up. Never use sharp objects such as tweezers to pick up a contact. It may damage the delicate lens. You can use your fingers to lift it straight up, but make sure that your finger is wet with saline solution to avoid damaging it. But a better way to pick up dropped contacts is to get a piece of paper and slip it under the lens then you can slide it off into the saline solution.
Soak the dropped contact lens in the saline solution for a few minutes so it can be re-hydrated. Make sure to inspect it for any cracks or damage before putting it back on your eye. Always handle your contacts with clean hands and never forget to clean them with a recommended contact lens cleaning solution.
