As much as I like slide out drawers in a beautiful teak wood armoire I simply don’t have the space for jewelry boxes that take up more space for jewelry. That’s how cramped I am for space in my NYC apartment. So I resorted to clear Lucite jewelry boxes that are about 2 inches high by 14 by 11 inches divided up into 40 slots. Each slot is about 2 inches in all dimensions giving me enough volume to hold a pair of decent sized earrings per slot. If I have a matching pendant then in it goes into the same slot so I don’t have to hunt for a matching anything. It has to be exactly matching though otherwise it simply goes in the pendant box so that when I don’t want to be too matchy matchy I can sift through an entire tray of pendants to find the most appropriate piece for the occasion.
