Liposculpture Risks and The Patient Mindset

It is a bit strange sounding at first to hear that the patients mindset going into surgery can ultimately have an effect on some of the more severe risks and complications associated with liposculpture. But – in a roundabout way – this is the case. How so? Let me explain.

By “patient mindset”, I’m referring to an educated viewpoint of what the results of liposculpture are. This means not having crazy fantasies in which liposculpture is reduced to a process in which models and athletes are cut from stone. This is not how it works. And when people have realistic expectations about how it works, they are less likely to try riskier aspects of the surgery. What are those? Two things: having more fat removed than necessary in one treatment, and having more than one body area treated in a single session.

People who have unrealistic ideas about what they are going to look like after having surgery are more likely to try and have more fat removed and more procedures done at once. Conversely, those who understand it will make them slimmer but is not a magic pill for muscle and tone are less likely to do both of those things.

In this way, the patients mindset can influence the risks associated with liposculpture.
