Menopause Signs and What to Expect

When it comes to menopause, no one can really tell you what to expect. A lot of women just assume that it’s always hard with a lot of symptoms, but in reality, only 50% of women actually experience symptoms. Certainly genetic luck plays a part and some women may have drawn the lucky ‘no symptom’ gene, but other lifestyle factors also play a part. One dramatic example is smoking; smokers enter into menopause several years earlier than non-smokers. Whether a woman maintains a healthy weight, exercises regularly and eats a healthy diet can also factor into menopause.

One of the most difficult symptoms facing menopausal women is hot flashes. In the US, hot flashes are by far the most commonly reported symptom, but this isn’t true in all cultures. In some Asian cultures hot flashes are so uncommon that there isn’t even a word to express it. So, why are hot flashes so common in the US, but non-existent in other cultures? Well women would certainly like the answer to this burning question. And of course drug manufactures would love to have a product to sell that could quell hot flashes altogether, but we’re still a long way from having all the answers. Some scientific studies have been done on soy to see if this may be the solution that everyone is looking for, but the results have been too conflicting to draw any concrete conclusions.

Menopause is also directly impacted by a woman’s own view of aging as well as the culture in which she lives. Women who are comfortable with the aging process are much more likely to have fewer problems during menopause than women who dread everything about aging, especially when it comes to psychological symptoms such as depression. Culture also plays a role in menopause. Women from cultures where aging is viewed more favorably report aging and menopause as much more positive experiences.

Often women are curious about what to expect during menopause, but the truth is that no one can tell you exactly what your experience will be like. Menopause is influenced by so many different things including genetics and cultural expectations that it is impossible to predict. Here are a few things that we do know for sure: being physically active, reducing stress levels and getting the proper amount of sleep will help reduce some of the signs of menopause, such as depression, anxiety, memory loss, mood swings, hot flashes and insomnia.  The Signs of Menopause Guide has more helpful articles and tips for surviving menopause.

Installing a Screen Door

During the summer months it is important to install fly and mosquito screens on the main entrance doors to your home.

A number of options are available for different types of doors. For the traditional door you have the option to install a screen door in front of the existing door which can be either a permanent fixture or one that can be removed and stored during the off season. These doors although functional can be quite annoying as they are forever slamming shut against the frame. Additionally they are quite awkward to maneuver when trying to walk through both doors especially if carrying a tray.

An alternative to the above type is a screen door that operates somewhat like a curtain. The opening is split in the middle. No need to open a door, simply pull one of the curtains to one side and walk through. When the curtains settle down again, the leading edges meet and seal again. The leading edges have magnetic strips sewn into the fabric that attract each other to form the seal. This type of screen is particularly suitable for pets allowing them to walk in and out and you can rest assured that the screen will seal again.

Installation of the curtain system is simple, basically a rod placed at the head of the frame to hang the curtains. When not required they are easily removed and stored. One main advantage is no more noisy slamming doors.

Screens are also available for your patio doors. In this instance it consists of a sliding rigid screen held in a frame that is fixed to the inner side of the patio door main framing. It functions by opening the main patio door panel and sliding the screen panel into place. Similar systems are available for windows however they tend to be permanent fixtures.

Hire A Professional for Your Plumbing Needs

There are many reasons why a homeowner should hire a professional plumber for major plumbing services. In many cases professionals in this field have undertaken years of training and studying in addition to accumulating years of experience before opening their own businesses. It does take quite a bit of skill and expertise to be able to offer quality and reputable services in the plumbing business, especially knowing that should a customer become dissatisfied with the work performed, they are the ones who are responsible for the end result.

Professional plumbers take their jobs seriously and are truly dedicated to ensuring they are providing the best possible services to their clients because their livelihood depends on it. Many plumbers receive much of their work through referrals given by satisfied customers, so it is in their best interest to make sure the repairs they do produces good results. Though hiring a plumber can be very expensive, to say the least, when looked at from the viewpoint that the damage caused to your home by the lack of plumbing repairs or inadequate repairs when needed could cost you double, then choosing the first alternative (hire the professional!) undoubtedly is the better choice.

Most reputable plumbing companies such as Champs Plumbers Atlanta or Champs Houston Plumbers, will offer homeowners a written guarantee of the services they provide within their homes. This is an additional safety measure for the homeowner to ensure quality work has been given. In the event work was not completed adequately and needs to be redone, ongoing expenses will come out of the plumber’s pocket, not yours. Whereas if you try to do the work yourself and it doesn’t come out right, you will be solely responsible for any damages incurred. These are factors you should carefully consider when it comes to handling plumbing repair for your home.

Healthy Lifestyle and Herbal Detox

There is a lot to be said for living a healthy lifestyle. Many people don’t want to listen to this advice because it takes a lot of effort to achieve it. You can’t just sit on your butt all day and live a healthy lifestyle. You cannot eat your food at McDonald’s every day and live a healthy lifestyle. It takes effort but the rewards are very worthwhile. We also live in a world where toxins are a problem. And even if we are living that healthy lifestyle, we are still susceptible to these pollutants. So, the answer is to try and help your body out by using methods such as herbal detox. You can use your own herbs, that you have grown with your own fair hands or you can purchase the herbs from companies such as Blessed Herbs.

A healthy lifestyle means eating the right types of food. The right types of food include fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meat, preferably white meat, plenty of fish, and drinking plenty of water and fruit juices. It also means having plenty of exercise. Plenty of exercise means getting out at least three or four times a week for at least half an hour’s sweaty exercise. If you don’t build up a sweat it is not exercise.

Going back to the herbal detox is something which will help your specific organs. Each organ in your body has a certain job to do and with the amount of pollutants that are in the atmosphere and in the food that we are eating means that we sometimes need to give our bodies a bit of a helping hand in order to have them do the job that they were meant to do in a more sustained and practicable way. You can use individual herbs to target individual organs or you can use herbs in a combination which will also target specific parts of your body. For instance, the liver can be helped by using dandelion, goldenrod, and Angelica. There are also other herbs which will help your lungs, your kidneys, your heart, and your intestinal organs.
