Take Control with Flea Bombs & Flea and Tick Shampoo
Most pet owners find themselves having to learn about flea bombs and flea and tick shampoo. Flea and tick shampoo usually has to be used frequently since it only kills the parasites on the pet or in some case only stuns them and an owner might manage to rinse them down the drain. Most pets are not very happy about being regularly doused in water and what they probably know is poison. Dogs are known to start rolling in the dirt right after their bath like somebody on fire doing the stop drop and roll. Cats would rather just take your blood.
Flea and tick shampoos are not usually the best long-term solution, especially if there are many fleas. A very small part of the infestation is actually on the pet. For every flea or tick on your pet, there are thousands more miniature vampires and their larvae in the carpet and under the house. Eggs are not laid on the pet, nor do they hatch on the pet. Therefore, the best way to commit a mass killing is with flea bombs that get eggs and larvae and do not involve torturing the pet. Flea bombs are effective and easy to operate. You push the button on top of the can to the start the spray and run while holding your breath. You can push the button and throw it under your house, or set one off in your house and quickly get out and close the door behind you.
Flea bombs are not without their drawbacks. You cannot use them in a room where you keep food unless you first take out all the food. Small rodent type pets and birds can be harmed by the bomb. After all, you are filling your home with poison. If you can seal off the rooms being bombed, you might use the rest of the house, but in some cases you, your pets, and any uncovered food would need to be out of the house for most of the day. If the cat or dog still has fleas when they come back, then the invasion will begin again.
Flea bombs and flea and tick shampoo are not something anybody wants to use frequently. Cap star is a pill and very effective, but very expensive. Depending on the size of the pet, you could spend three dollars a day until fleas are wiped out in your area. Generic spot on treatments do not usually work as well as the more expensive name brand products, but could be better than nothing. Fighting fleas and ticks can involve an all out war, and war is never cheap.
