Using Sunscreen for Rosacea Treatment
Rosacea effects millions of people around world, with cases going from the very mild to the very extreme. Many people lie somewhere in between these two extremes, and will need to try out a few different treatment approaches to best control their symptoms.
One rosacea commonality experienced by nearly everyone with rosacea though is that exposure to the sun acts as an uncomfortable trigger for their rosacea symptoms.
This is why it’s very important to always have sunscreen on hand. If a person knows they will be exposed, it makes sense to simply apply sunscreen as part of their regular routine in the morning or afternoon, so that he or she is protected.
The type of sunscreen needed should:
- Block infrared rays
- Block UVA rays
- Block UVB rays
It’s also important to note that many sunscreens can act as a trigger themselves, or at the very least, create discomfort for the sensitive skin of a rosacea patient. This means a trial and error process needs to be taken in order to find the best protective sunscreen that also creates no discomfort for the person.
