What Is Bone China?
Bone china makes for very fancydishes but waht exactly is it? Well the first thing that might surprise you is that bone china was not actually invented in China. It was actually given the name as it was created to compete with Chinese porcelain exports.
It was actually created in England during the eighteenth century and refined to what it is to do in the late 1700′s It uses bone ahsh as one of it’s main components and this is where the bone part of the name came from.
One quick way to tell if a piece is really bone china is to use it’s translucent charecteristic by holding it to the light and putting your hand behind it. You should be able to see your fingers through it.
Some items that can be picked up relatively cheap are fancy bone china mugs and plates.
